Dear Parishioners, It is good to be home. My time in Australia was incredible. It was so great to be in Aussie to celebrate the first second generation Moran wedding. Kate and James’ civil and sacramental wedding sets them on a great path to their lives together and I wish them every blessing! I return home with many shared family memories and a thankful heart for the time spent with loved ones. It was so special to have a few extra days with my twin, Michael and to discover Tazzy together!! Truly faith and family are a blessing from generation to generation. We shared in God’s gift of a new sacrament with each other and relished the blessings of faith that we share. This coming Saturday, I invite our married couples to attend the 5 pm Mass. Following the 5 pm Mass, we will gather in the Marian Room to discuss topics pertaining to their married lives. Our little group is made up of older couples married many years, some couples married 10, 15 years and others, newly married. I invite couples in the parish to consider joining our couples group. Please contact Stan or Pam Moyer at [email protected]. It is very important that newly married couples make time for God and each other. Sadly, often times, couples can be so busy in their lives with work and raising a family and after 10, 15 years, they could stop being friends, they might not remember what they had in common, and they could stop having fun. Sometimes, a couple will look across the kitchen table from each other and wonder what they have in common apart from their children. It is particularly important that young couples make time to have a conversation about things not just pertaining to their children, share common interests and spend some time together in prayer. While parents are the first teachers to their children, they also should be open to learning together, to having fun together and continuing to grow in their love and friendship Living together as a couple requires the graces of the sacrament and the trust that the husband and wife place in each other to make ordinary times extraordinary. Jesus’ first miracle was at the wedding feast of Cana. We thank God that so many couples join together in the sacrament of marriage and I assure them of my love and guidance as they live their lives together. I look forward to presiding at a Liturgy meeting this coming Saturday, the 28th. We begin with 9 am Mass then move directly into the conference room. During these meetings, we discuss the various seasons. On Saturday, we will discuss Lent and Easter. It is always wonderful when many minds get together and where we can work out ideas that best serve our beloved community of St. Luke. A big thanks to Fr. Hubert for taking charge of the parish during my absence. We are blessed to have Fr. Hubert with us, and I so appreciate his steadfast and loving heart. Thanks also to Deacon Ray and all of our devoted staff and volunteers who serve our parish with such devotion and care. Fr Owen
