We were thrilled to have Bishop open our Antioch weekend by celebrating Mass for us at the outdoor chapel. He had dinner with us all and enjoyed meeting our team leaders. Our team leaders worked very hard to create an environment of Christian love where their younger peers could grow and develop together. The highlight of the weekend were the confessions. I am grateful to Fr. Hubert, Fr. Nick, and Fr. Angel for assisting us with confessions. We concluded the retreat with Mass at 3:30 pm. A big thanks to all of the adult and young adult leadership. A big thank you to Rob and Mary who ran the kitchen and made sure our hungry teams were satisfied. We look forward to our follow-up meetings in the coming Sunday evenings following the 6 pm Mass.
Fr. Hubert was busy blessing the animals on Saturday morning and his warm caring smile greeted not just the animals but our human community who love this beautiful ritual. Thank you, Fr. Hubert.
This coming Sunday, I will lead a Rosary Walk in conjunction with the Diocese and the Order of Malta. We begin at St. Paul inside the Walls, Madison at 3 pm. We form a Eucharist procession and walk to St. Thomas More Church, Convent Station for 4 pm Benediction. We should be finished by 4:30 pm. Please consider joining us as we, Americans throughout our land walk for peace. This is the time of the year when I typically schedule dates to welcome family or friends of parishioners who are either non-Catholic or Catholics who need the sacraments of Holy Eucharist and Confirmation. This process as you are aware is called RCIA. I invite you to email me with the name and information of those who are not baptized, those who are Protestant and would like to become Catholic and Catholics who would like to make First Holy Communion or Confirmation. Our sessions will begin on October 17, and I am delighted to have the help of our team of Deacon Ray, Stephanie Oros, Colleen Smith, and Sam Suhaka. I look forward to bringing on board a variety of people who seek to be united with us in the Holy Roman Catholic Church.
Losing a family member to death is the most difficult part of life but sadly affects each of us throughout our life. I will begin a new Bereavement session on Tuesday, October 25 at 7 pm in the parish offices. This is the third year that we will be offering these sessions and this year, I will have a wonderful team of Dr. Michael Kopreski, Michael Wilson, a psychotherapist, and Maryann Hobbie, a chaplain to help me. If you know of anyone who is bereaved, you think is ready and would benefit from these sessions, please contact the parish office. Looking forward to seeing everyone at our Anniversary Mass on Saturday, October 15 at 4 pm. I can’t wait to have Bishop dedicate the altar and bless the new pews. If you would like to attend the picnic, please do not forget to RSVP as soon as possible. Please do so on our website, on the sign-up sheets in the lobby or call the office so we can plan accordingly.
