Dear Parishioners, As we gather on this fourth week of Lent, notice the rose-colored vestments which indicates that today is Laetare Sunday which means Rejoice! Easter is in sight. It is good to take a little breather and review our Lenten sacrifices, assess how we are doing and prepare ourselves to be a support for The Little Sisters of the Poor-Totowa. I have been very pleased with how many children and young people have brought in non-perishables for the care facility. I encourage parents to talk to their children about these needs. Last Sunday, we were thrilled to present our Preschool children. They were excited to sell their Mother’s Day cards and have a fundraiser for their little garden that their parents will work with them on. They raised more than they had expected, and they are using some of the money towards a book safe, which will truly benefit all of our little children. Thanks for your generous support of our PreK. I am proud of Jeanne and her staff who prepare our children in a strong academic atmosphere centered on Christ and our Catholic values. We are blessed to have a strong and compassionate RCIA team here at St. Luke, Deacon Ray, Stephanie, Sam, Colleen, and Brian work hard in educating the adults who are coming into the church and completing their sacraments. Last weekend, we celebrated the First Scrutiny. This is a liturgy by which those who are preparing for the Easter sacrament come before God and seek grace and blessings on their final journey to completion of our faith. We present our group to different masses. This weekend, we will welcome them to the 6 pm Mass. Please keep our nine candidates in prayer as we rejoice that through the invitation and prayers of many, they have found Christ for whom they were yearning. It is my pleasure and honor to present our candidates for the Easter sacraments: ·Patrick Castenie, who seeks entry into the Holy Roman Catholic Church through the sacraments of Baptism, First Holy Eucharist and Confirmation ·Trevor Baldwin, a Protestant to be initiated into the Catholic Church and to receive the sacraments of Holy Eucharist and Confirmation. ·Alan Bush, a Protestant to be initiated into the Catholic Church and to receive the sacraments of Holy Eucharist and Confirmation. ·Mark Maloney, a Protestant to be initiated into the Catholic Church and to receive the sacraments of Holy Eucharist and Confirmation. ·Jerri Anne Culbert, a Protestant to be initiated into the Catholic Church and to receive the sacraments of Holy Eucharist and Confirmation. ·Jose Ortiz, a Catholic to receive the sacraments of First Holy Communion and Confirmation. ·Will Zirzow, a Catholic to receive the sacraments of First Holy Communion and Confirmation. ·Summer Van Nest, a Catholic who seeks the sacrament of Confirmation. ·Gia Esposito, a Catholic who seeks the sacrament of Confirmation.
