A big thanks to everyone who worked so hard for the Holy Week liturgies and the Easter week Masses. St. Luke truly is a very caring place with many thoughtful, hard-working people who use their gifts in many ways.
My sincere thanks to our maintenance and office staff, our five sacristans who worked very hard on decorations, Rhonda, Jeanne, Pat, Terri and Lyn, our Adult choir under the direction of Kathe, our Teen and Children’s choir under the direction of Lenny with the assistance of Dan and Christopher, our 7:30 am musician, Rich, our lectors, ushers and ministry schedulers, Jim, Marge and Jen, our extraordinary ministers and a big thanks also to Vinnie who served at all of the Masses, Deacon Ray, who worked hard behind the scenes and at the liturgies. Thank you to my RCIA team, Stephanie, Sam, Colleen, and Deacon Ray who helped to prepare our candidates and to Maureen, who came on board to prepare one of our candidates. We are thrilled to have 11 newly initiated members and look forward to seeing them and their families in church on a regular basis.
Thanks to Nina, Barb and Phil Carangelo who have been working hard on their information on the Synod. Please see the section inside the bulletin for more detailed information.
We are so happy that our parish of St. Luke is growing with new parishioners and with young families and it is all because of the love of our current parishioners. Our church, our place of worship was built almost 40 years ago and is in need of some long overdue maintenance, and it is with this in mind that I am delighted this weekend to present to you a plan to revitalize the church. Our chairs and kneelers have long outlasted their life expectancy of 15 years and are being held together by superglue. I have been in consultation with a pew company over the last few months and we have chosen a very nice red oak curved pew style that will fit the style of the church beautifully. Our church has not been painted for many years and under the guidance of the diocese, we have picked a liturgical painting company who will paint the church adding some decorative colors in different areas. This weekend members of our planning committee will be available after all Masses to answer any questions you may have. My hope is that families who can afford to donate a pew will do so in honor of or in memory of a living or deceased family member. Pews can be donated individually or together as a family or group of friends. If it is not possible to take a pew, you can help us by donating at different levels to our revitalization project. All donations will be memorialized. It is truly my hope that we will be able to complete this Revitalization and Maintenance Project through parishioner support.
