Congratulations to our Confirmandi. Maureen and I wish our newly confirmed God’s blessings as they live strong Catholic lives. A big thank you to Maureen, our amazing DRE for her loyalty and devotion to our parish. Thanks also to our catechists who have prepared our young people and to their parents, grandparents, godparents, and sponsors. Thanks to Lenny, Dan, Ally, Rachel, and Vicki, who sang and played so beautifully at the Mass. Thanks to our ushers, Jim, Mike, and Phil who worked hard at getting everyone in the right place. Our sacristans, Rhonda, Jeanne, Pat, Lyn, and Terri prepared and arranged the sanctuary and set the church up. Thanks to our staff who have always worked so hard to support us in our needs.
As we gathered last Sunday to celebrate Father’s Day, it was truly a blessing to see so many of our dads who are strong Catholic dads who are doing God’s work with loyalty. As your pastor it was wonderful to offer our Masses for the living intentions of our dads and for the repose of the souls of dads who have died. We appreciate our dads and are both blessed and grateful.
On behalf of our Bishop and our Diocese, I thank you for your generosity for the Corpus Christi Food Collection. Our tables were overflowing with canned salmon, tuna, and fruit. The parish of St. Luke truly makes a difference.
In an era when many contractors do not start and finish on time and aren’t always dedicated to true professionalism, we are blessed with the contractors who came on time, finished the job within the time frame promised and exceeded our expectation. Our gratitude to Johnny and his crew rom John Tiedemann Inc. for the beautiful painting of the church, Todd and Matt of New Holland Church Furniture and Artech Church Interiors for the beautiful pews and installation, Kevin Dorlon of All Seasons General Contracting for the molding above the altar, installation of the entry doors and the sanctuary extension, Naerr and his staff from K&C Services for their hard work on the grouting, cleaning, and buffing of the tiles in the church, Bill and his staff from Viking Demolition for so quickly removing the tiles in the narthex and Tom our custodian for the refinishing and framing of the Stations of the Cross.
Our children and young people had a wonderful week. Vacation Bible Camp was an absolute success! The theme for this year was Building a Foundation. I explained to the children the importance of building a firm foundation in their lives and that through the understanding of sacred scripture, role plays of the beautiful stories and a sense of love for the gospel, that our young people truly build on the Word of God as it pertains to them in their lives. We were thrilled to have loud music and lots of laughter. What a blessing after these years of silent pandemic to have boisterous children with a sense of joy and excitement filling the halls of our parish. A big thanks to our adult and teen volunteers and to Nina, who ran and oversaw the program.
Do remember parents, online CCD registration is now available. Please register your child or children from kindergarten through 10th grade so that your children can have their preferred catechists and be with their friends. Fr. Owen
