Dear CCD Parents,
The liturgical year, with its seasons, saints’ feast days, and holy days, is a treasure. All Saints Day, November 1
st, is a holy day of celebration and one of the most popular of our holy days. On this day we celebrate all the saints – those officially recognized by the Church as well as all those holy people in our lives. These “saints,” through their lives of faith, revealed God’s loving presence. They may not be official saints but we honor them too. All Saint’s Day also recognizes you and me – “saints in the making.” We are all people of God.
On November 2
nd we celebrated All Souls Day. On both of these special days of the liturgical year we renew our belief that, through Jesus, we are all united – the living and the dead – in God. We believe that death does not divide us and both recognized saints and those special people who have gone before us are signs of God’s goodness and love.
Lord, thank you for allowing us to join together as a communion of saints. Thank you for the examples of love we are given in the saints. Thank you for the people who are with you in heaven or who are on the journey to your kingdom. Thank you for calling us to be among the saints and all those called to follow you. Amen.
